Atitlán Fest was formed in San Marcos la Laguna. It is conformed by musicians & artists co-creating a harmonious live music culture in the lake.
We want to create awareness, appreciation and encourage the learning of the culture and heritage of music around the local communities of lake Atitlán.
This is aimed through music exposure, music lessons, event participation and interaction with an intercultural array of incredible musicians residing and traveling through the lake.
Vision
- To create awareness and appreciation of the culture and heritage of music and to encourage all to experiment music not just from the audience but from the stage as they embark on the live music shows and music learning journeys as an alternative to other unhealthy activities and environments in their lives.
- A series of live music events that are loved by national audiences, sought out by musicians and valued by the local community.
Mission
- To help the local community get access to music shows, instruments and free lessons for kids and also for adults at affordable rates.
- To improve the local artists/musicians’ economy by allowing them to do what they love and do best through regular performances and/or group or individual lesson teaching.
- To present sustainable world class live music experiences in Lake Atitlán that:
- Showcases and nurtures artistic excellence through high quality performances.
- Provides economic benefit for regional communities through visitor attraction and investment in cultural and tourism-based activities.
- Supports the development of the live music industry through networking, experimentation, professional development, audience development and regular music festivals and events.
- Fosters wellbeing, vitality and connectedness through cultural activities centered around performance of music.
